Short term goals

My short-term goals are to first obtain a job in the neonatal intensive care unit at Children's of Alabama. In achieving this, I hope to learn skills to make me become the nurse I have always wanted to be. This is to be compassionate, caring, and competent while giving my patients the best care possible. I also want to be able to lead others into pursuing a career in nursing by talking to younger students about my experiences. Precepting students and becoming a clinical instructor is also a goal I have for myself. This is because I had great experiences with instructors that validated me and continued to encourage me on my journey to become a nurse.

Long term goals

One day I want to become an expert nurse in the neonatal intensive care unit. I want to be someone others can look up to in order for them to become a better nurse. Also, I want to become a charge nurse one day so I can offer a helping hand to anyone in the unit. Becoming a nurse practitioner is the last long-term goal that would lead me to fulfill my passion. I would love to be a neonatal NP to become a leader in this field.
